Anthony (Tony) Moxon

A brief history of Anthony (Tony) Moxon.

Tony was born on the 14th of March, 1955.

Tony received a B.Com, majoring in computer programming and accounting, from the University of Queensland. He graduated April, 1977.

Tony married, and has been married for 29 years. He has two sons, aged 21 and 18.

Tony has worked for Moxon & Co from 1976 to present.

Milestones :

  • Moxon operated sawmills in Tully and Murray Upper in North Queensland. They were shut down by Graham Richardson’s Green Vote grab. Tony Moxon wrote software for log inventory for this operation.
  • Tony Moxon was ultimately responsible for the Group Accounting Function before moving to more operational/commercial aspects of the business.
  • Moxon also operated a sawmill in the New Hebrides and later Vanuatu. Tony Moxon has a significant understanding of Polynesian Culture and associated Sovereign risk.
  • Tony Moxon established Moxon Timbers Inc in USA in 1987 from nothing. He worked for White Brothers from 1988, learning plywood merchandising. By then, Moxon Timbers Incorporated had a 6 acre concentration yard in Winchester VA and a warehouse in Portland OR. Moxon Timbers survived the GFC’s effects in USA.
  • Moxon Timbers Incorporated sources extensively in South America and Tony Moxon has a good understanding of the Brazilian wood product sector.
  • Tony Moxon travelled widely in Siberia in 1994/5 and purchased Sylvestris logs , had them custom milled and sold the Moulding Grade output on West Coast USA.
  • Tony Moxon established JV with Stora Enso Timber in 2000 & was bought out by them when turnover reached 120 million. Tony Moxon has experience in European Softwood and its marketing worldwide. Today Moxon has been appointed Exclusive Sales Agent for Sodra in Australia and New Zealand – Moxon’s restraint of trade (Stora) having expired.
  • Tony Moxon established Moxon Timber Europe in 2005 – Moxon holds large quantities of Oak for Alternate (Wine Industry) manufacture in Australia and now USA and Chile in this operation. Moxon also imports Radiata (KD H3.2 clears) from their branch in New Zealand as well as Hardwood decking from South America.
  • Tony Moxon rebuilt Moxon’s Cypress sawmill in Chinchilla in 2008. At this time, Moxon was embroiled in political efforts to stave off an Aila Keto led lock up of PEFC certified forest.
  • Moxon oversaw processing in China of Cypress mill output into pre-finished flooring and laminated structural components.
  • Tony Moxon established ties with Vaagen Brothers Lumber, Colville WA in USA and Moxon is now approaching 80000 m3 per annum structural softwood imports from this source.
